Guided by Te Whāriki - Our programme is grounded in Te Whāriki and shaped by the interests, ideas, and discoveries of our tamariki. Play is how tamariki make sense of their world, and our kaiako support learning by being present, curious, responsive, and reciprocal in their interactions.
Tuakana‑Teina at the heart of our centre
Our mixed‑age setting nurtures natural tuakana‑teina relationships. Older tamariki grow as rangatira (leaders) showing manaaki (care) and confidence. Younger tamariki feel supported included and inspired as they learn alongside their tuakana. These relationships deepen whanaungatanga (connection) aroha (empathy) and strengthen our sense of mana whenua within the centre.
Rich Open‑Ended Learning Experiences
We offer a wide range of open‑ended experiences across art, storytelling, construction, dramatic play and nature exploration. Kaiako intentionally design spaces that invite wonder challenge creativity and collaboration.
He Taiao – Learning Through Nature
Our outdoor area is a living extension of our centre. Tamariki climb, dig, garden, investigate insects and explore the rhythms of the natural world. Through these experiences they learn to care for Papatūānuku and understand what it means to be a kaitiaki. Nature is woven into daily learning nurturing curiosity confi dence and environmental awareness.
Daily Rhythm
Our day flows gently with time for free play small‑group learning kai rest outdoor exploration and shared moments of connection. Our routines are predictable yet flexible supporting tamariki hauora (wellbeing) motuhake (independence) and a strong sense of mana whenua within our centre.

8.15 am | Teacher opens outside. |
9.15 am – 10.00 am | Rolling morning tea. Free play continues inside and outside. |
11.15 am -11.45 am | Tidy up main room and set up for lunch. |
11.45 am | Mat time. |
11.55 am – 12.15 pm | Lunch time. |
12.15 pm | Sleep routines commence. Outdoor play for the other Tamariki. |
1.15 pm | Main room is set up. Inside/outside free play continues. |
2.15 pm – 3.00 pm | Rolling afternoon tea. Free play continues. |
3.00 pm – 4.15 pm | Free play inside and outside. |
4.15 pm | Tidy up time inside. |
4.30/4.45 pm | Tidy up outside. |
4.45 pm – 5.45 pm | Free play/ quiet time in the front room or block room. |
5.45 pm | Centre closes. |
