We run a child-focused programme that provides children with the opportunity to explore through play and to follow their interests.

Staff Notice, Recognise and Respond to the interests and dispositions of the children. Learning is documented and responded to in planning a programme which takes into account individual children.

We give the children a varied and stimulating range of learning experiences.

Some of these experiences are :

  • structured
  • creative
  • fun and laughter

Staff work alongside children and support them in their learning. The overall objective is to provide an environment in which children can explore, contribute and grow.

The Centre’s curriculum is based on the Ministry of Education’s National Curriculum Document 'Te Whaariki'.

Staff document children’s learning in a narrative format supported by photos. These are shared with parents and whanau through a new online resource. Each child has a primary teacher responsible for the child.

Children have their own Profile Books and these are updated regularly. The children’s Profile Books are at the Centre and parents/caregivers are welcome to view them. Folders with the children’s artwork are also kept to show the different aspects of development. Some artwork will come home with the children.

Parents are encouraged to discuss their child’s developmental needs with the teachers. Constant communication between parents and teachers is important for maintaining effective family/Centre relationships.
