Curriculum
We run a child-focused programme that provides children with
the opportunity to explore through play and to follow their interests.
Staff take into account the developmental needs of the children
and tailor the programme to reflect these needs.
We give the children a varied and stimulating range of learning
experiences.
There are activities going all day:
- some structured
- some creative
- and some for fun and laughter
Staff get beside children and support them in their learning. The
overall objective is to foster childrens self esteem and independence.
The Centres curriculum is based on the Ministry of Educations
National programme 'Te Whaariki'.
Staff record information about the childrens play and development.
Each child has a primary teacher responsible for the observation
of that child.
Children have their own Individual Development Programme (IDP)
book and these are updated regularly. The childrens IDP books
are at the Centre and parents/caregivers are welcome to view them.
Folders with the childrens artwork are also kept to show the
different stages of art development. Some artwork will come home
with the children.
Parents are encouraged to discuss their childs developmental
needs with the teachers. It is felt that constant communication
between parents and teachers is important for maintaining effective
family/Centre relationships.
