Our Philosophy

  • We will maintain and support Karori Childcare as a co-operative, managed by parents through an Incorporated Society.

  • We will make choices and act in ways that ensure the facility exists to meed the needs of our community/tangata whenua on a sustainable basis, rather than to generate profit.

  • We will develop and follow policies and practices which ensrue that the Centre provides a high standard of care and education.

  • We will support teachers/nga kaiako in the development of their skills.

  • We take pride in our diversity and value all people irrespective of gender, race, ability, cultural background and religion. We will treat all people as individuals with differing needs, interests and contributions to make.

  • We will make a clear committment to the Treaty of Waitangi and the use of Te Reo.

  • We will work as a team to plan and make decisions.

  • We will strive to create a work environment where staff enjoy coming to work and can work effectively.

  • We will foster a Centre environment which is interesting, caring, child-friendly, welcoming, open, and physically and emotionally safe so that children, parents and staff feel comfortable.
